History
The former asylum was constructed in the early 1900s. Designed as a compact but self-contained complex, it comprised many two-storey buildings linked by long corridors. Alongside the wards, it included a chapel, mortuary and staff housing, providing everything patients and workers needed within the walls. At the time described in the video, the ground floors remained occupied by a mental-health facility, making it one of the few original psychiatric hospital buildings still in use.
